The Tennessee Republican Party's "Honk If You're Paying My Mortgage" bumper sticker has gone pro. Last week, Whoopie Goldberg made mention of it on The View in a segment about bailouts. (You can see the video on the GOP's site here.)

Though the Mighty Pith is still a little weirded out by the phrasing -- it seems to advertise that you're the deadbeat -- we must be in the minority. The party has already sold out its first two printings.

What is Chip Forrester and the Tennessee Democratic Party doing? For the last three years, the TNGOP pounds on Democrats and TNDP does nothing. Are they cowards?

Ask Bill Hobbs how large those printings were. 500? 1000? I guarantee you they have sold 100,000 of those things.
Ben asks a good question. TNDP has been dead since November, not that they did much before - other than serve as Robin Smith's punching bag.

That should have read, "They HAVE NOT sold 100,000." I'll bet they haven't sold 5,000.

L'il Chipper and the Chipinista are huddled down in a corner of a closet at the TNDP office waiting for the mean people to go away.

Tennessee Republicans are fond of the honk. First they wanted you to honk to show opposition to the state income tax and now to honk if you're paying their mortgage. What are they going to honk about next?
And what's new, Tennessee politicians are good these days of getting notoriety for stupid stuff.

The TN GOP blog is soliciting comments from bumper-sticker buyers about their interesting experiences and to "share stories of." (hey, that's what it says.)
First up is an Alabamian who claims his bumper-sticker attracted a black soldier who thinks Obama is a "huckster socialist bent on bringing the country down!” Who knew Gilbert Martin was a black soldier in Alabama?
Next is Bob from Virginia who is also a little confused about the wording on the sticker he bought: “I modified mine with an orange sharpie to read: HONK If you’re paying YOUR mortgage. I did not want to suggest that others might be paying mine.”
He didn't want to suggest that, but he bought the sticker and put it on his car anyway.

Upon reflection, a better line would have been: "Obviously, the man was Gilbert Martin in a uniform and blackface."

they should change it to read "Honk if you think Tennessee Republicans aren't that funny"
