Governor Won't Take Stand Against Guns in Saloons, City Parks, Playgrounds, State Parks, Wildlife Refuges, Anywhere Else

Posted by Jeff Woods on Wed, Mar 4, 2009 at 11:19 AM

Gov. Phil Bredesen today refused to say what he thinks about all the bills in the legislature to let licensed gunmen parade around with their weaponry just about anywhere in Tennessee. Here's what Bredesen said (or didn't say, actually) on this topic in a brief media availability this morning: Q: What's your position on all these handgun bills in the legislature? Bredesen: I'm going to just stick with my usual principle of, when bills are in the process like this, I'll wait and see what comes out of the process and decide what I'm going to do at that point. We are beginning to detect a trend here.

Against what is there to take a stand? I suppose he should take a stand against freedom of the press, illegal search and seizure, trial by jury, etc.
Since when did illegal have anything to do with reality? It amazes me how the same crusading group of individuals can rail against Constitutional violations of individual freedoms from previous administrations (federal - and rightly so), and then view the 2nd amendment with incredulity. Pick and choose, eh? Pick and choose. Let me guess, you conveniently manage to interpret that one in a much loser sense than the others, right? So much for the champions of freedom. The logic reminds me of the people who walk out in the middle of the street and claim that if they get hit, it's the drivers fault. What good is recourse if you are dead? Well, you guys lose. If you choose to not defend yourselves that's your problem, but I'm glad I at least have a personal choice, as much as you'd like to take it away.
