Update: Lincoln County's Football Coach is Still an Idiot

Last week we took note of the imbecilic Lincoln County High School football coach Louis Thompson, who thinks it's more important to lead his team in Christian prayer at practice every day than to follow clear principles of federal constitutional law. Thompson's defiant (read: ignorant) approach to the First Amendment's establishment clause came to light in a Tennessean story about a New Jersey lawsuit involving a public school football coach who prayed with his team -- a case the U.S. Supreme Court has been considering on appeal.

We learned yesterday that the Supreme Court has declined to hear the New Jersey case. This leaves intact a ruling by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals that the New Jersey coach's actions amounted to "an unconstitutional endorsement of religion." Coach Thompson was quoted in the Tennessean piece last week pledging to continue leading team prayers and insisting he "couldn't care less what the Supreme Court says or does."

It's time for Lincoln County school officials to send Thompson packing, and find themselves a coach who has a scintilla of respect for the rule of law.

Separation of church and State, huh??? Didn't our 44th president take his Presidential oath with his hand on the Bible. And you critics (idiots) are worried about a man bowing his head while others say prayer.

No Concerned, we're worried about an authority figure forcing or coercing (through the use of peer pressure) a group of students at a publicly funded school to pray to the God that HE believes in, in the way that HE believes in -- without regard to what the students' parents may wish to teach their own children. Obama's choice was his own.

Forcing a group of students to pray to a God that HE believes in...are you serious?? When did it become so terrible for one person to pray for the safety and well being of another person. Obviously anyone who agrees with Bruce Barry is the idiot and has never played a team sport of ANY KIND. When teams say a prayer either before or after any practice or game they are praying for the safety of their own players and the opponents. I have been around athletics my entire life and have never once heard a coach, including Coach Thompson, force religion upon any student/student athelte. I applaude any coach of any athletic team, especially Coach Thompson, for saying a prayer with his or her players.

Government says it ok to kill unborn children! Government says it ok to hand out Condoms to children!
But Government says it's not ok to ask GOD for the protection of the football players!
We just moved to Lincoln County, and this is the main reason why, a sports program that actually cares about the players above sports!
We need more Coaches like Coach Thompson in our schools.

People like Bruce Barry are the idiots!
