Jay Cutler Could Use Some Help With That Whole Manning Up Thing

Former Vandy star turned promising NFL QB Jay Cutler isn't helping his cause. Over the weekend, the sporting press reported that the Denver Broncos were trying to trade for then-New England quarterback Matt Cassel, which would have brought an end to Cutler's reign in Denver.

Cutler obviously wouldn't be pleased by the news. But instead of privately moping and publicly putting on the best face possible--as dictated by informal league bylaws and the Rules of Manhood--Cutler and his agent went Full Waaah! with some victimhood worthy of a caller to the Phil Valentine show. Cutler professed to be "shocked," and ESPN reports that he's now refusing to meet with Broncos' brassed to soothe his shockedness. Meanwhile, agent Bus Cook, in an attempt to suck up to his client, likened the trade talks to Indianapolis or New York trying to ship out the Manning brothers.

In terms of public opinion, Cutler couldn't have fashioned a better way to turn all sides against him. The initial reporting took on a Why Would the Broncos Want to Trade Him vibe. But in the wake of Cutler's public pouting, he's being bombarded with criticism.

In the immortal words of a famous guy I just fabricated, "Never whine during the off-season when beat reporters have nothing else to write about."

I am so sick of everyone blaming Jay for this whole mees.Denver is going to live the same fate that Baltimore Colts lived after their biggest mistake of trading Elway. Come on,what has Jay said to the media. He said he was shocked and angry and felt he was lied to. THAT'S IT! Everything else came from the media and McDumass. Pat Bowlen how dare you sit by and let McDumass do this to our team not to mention our beloved quarterback Jay.Step up and be a man,[Bowlen] admit you are just as responsible as Mcdaniels and the media for this whole mess.Jay belongs in Dever.

I'm a Vandy fan, but he's a whiny loser. But I hope the Donkeys keep his miserable rear end. Rivers and the Chargers own him and always will.

Everyone went on and on about Elway when he refused to play for the colts. Remember, he said he'd play baseball vs playing for the Colts. He turned out to be one of the Greatest QB's of all time. I dont think having personal standards is equal to being a whiner. The Bronco's have already blown it. This deal puts a bad taste in the mouth of the fans as well as Cutler's team mates who just lost their Hall of Fame coach. Denver will suffer from this years poor management decisions. If the Broncos do not go deep into the playoffs this year, the fans will rightly start the blame with the firing of Shanahan and the first major move by the new rookie Head Coach. Keep Cutler and fire McDaniels or suffer mediocrity.

Jay ius the man, as a JETS fan I wanted and we should have gotten him some way some how. we better do everything we can now. he would be the next Jeter in NY. He's smart, reads the field real well and seems to generally respected and liked by his team mates. They dont want you, well we do!!!

I think the only thing Jay needs to do is take some acting lessons - "How to Pretend You Trust People You Shouldn't Trust". Denver (under McDummy) does not deserve Jay. Will look forward to watching his new team, wherever he ends up. Denver under McD is Biggest Loser, at the very least for the coming year.

Ok to start with GEORGE... if you want to talk about "whiny losers" then let’s talk about RIVERS and the suckass chargers!! Rivers is by far the worst QB in the NFL and doesn't deserve to play due to being a complete douche bag and no ability to have any decency as a man or sportsmanship as a player. Broncos got it, Cutler or not! BRONCO COUNTRY!!!

I have been a Denver Bronco fan all of my life, however this business with Jay Cutler makes me think that Bolen messed up. First he fires Shannahan, and the new coach disrespects the most exciting QB to come Denver's way since Elway. I'm backing Cutler all the way. Shame on you Bronco Brass!
