Ron Ramsey's running for governor, making his announcement a little ahead of schedule to try to prevent his rivals from sucking up all the money before he gets started. It's illegal for lawmakers to take campaign money during sessions. Watch for the Senate speaker to push even harder now to end the session quickly. ... Robin Smith welcomes Ramsey into the race. Does Ramsey's candidacy help Bill Gibbons? ... As governor, Gibbons wants to lock up criminals forever and keep taxes really, really low. Explain again please how that would work? ... Kim McMillan isn't merely exploring a race anymore. She's definitely running: "I'm in it to win it." ... Congressman Steve Cohen says it would be "wrong--socially, morally, and economically" for the governor to turn down stimulus money for jobless benefits. ... The primal fear of taxes in the legislature.
