Vandy Star D.J. Moore to be Drafted by NFL's Worst Team

D.J. Moore will soon be a wealthy man. The Vandy corner is projected as a late first, early second round pick in this April's NFL Draft. Which means next year he'll still be getting yelled at by an old guy with a headset, only then he'll be able to afford a really big TV.

All is not well for Moore, however. Thanks to a mid-season trade, the Detroit Lions, the NFL's sorriest franchise, have two first-round picks. And on ESPN the other morning, Draft Guru Todd McShay (the guru least likely to make you swallow a bottle of Xanax) had Moore going to the Lions with the 20th pick.

That would make Moore the only man in America moving to Detroit. It'd also guarantee him at least three to four years of basement-dweller misery (misery in this case being relative; he'll still be earning as much as your average Merrill Lynch securities trader, circa 2005).

There's still two months to go, so any predictions should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, maybe Moore should avoid ESPN up until draft day. The world doesn't need another depressed rich guy.

Well, now, let's not overlook the benefits of moving to Detroit. Even if they only paid him $500,000, he'd be able to buy four blocks and built himself a house visible from space.

Detroit is a better city than Nashville. But I don't like country music and Baptists.

Nah, I think D.J. Moore is going to join Chris Williams, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Earl Bennett, and Jonathan Goff to make it 5 Vanderbilt players now playing for Da Bearsss. They have pick 18, before the Lions.

Moore to the Bears isn't completely out of the realm of possibilities, GoldnI, but it seems unlikely to me.
Part of Moore's appeal comes from his two-way and return potential. The Bears already have Devin Hester. And Jeff, our IT dude/resident Bears' expert, says that they're making DE a priority.
Time will tell.

In related news, this ESPN mock draft has Moore staying in Nashville.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that he'd stay here. We don't need a CB, but we do need a better kick returner, and Moore could play at WR if we needed him to. I only see it happening though if Percy Harvin is already taken (or if we don't trade up for him).

In the mock drafts I've seen, Harvin never makes it down to the Titans. The consensus, barring a trade, seems to be Hakeem Nicks from North Carolina or the wideout from Maryland (name escapes me at the moment). Basically, everyone believes this is the year the Titans break their trend of not drafting receivers in the first round.

Detroit is a better city if you desire a dependable crime rate and failing car industry. ha. anyway...hope Moore stays in Nashville!
