It's a big day at the Capitol. Along with gays and lesbians lobbying their legislators, the state employees union will rally to protest the governor's attempts to change work rules. They're calling it the "Hands Off" rally, accusing the governor of trying to strip away their rights. Specifically, he wants to claim more authority to transfer and demote workers. He told reporters last week that a couple of his aides met with the Tennessee State Employees Association and reached agreement on the bill. Guess the governor should have met with the union himself, because the TSEA has sent an action alert calling the legislation "a harsh and unacceptable blow to state employee's rights." The union says, "TSEA will not stand aside while unnecessary and harmful changes are made to our civil service rights."
