Ultimate Fighting Championship is Coming to Nashville

We're not getting World Extreme Cagefighting in Nashville--the minor league of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Or International Fight League--that weird MMA/team sport hybrid. And thank God a'mighty we're not getting that sham of a league, EliteXC, with its joke of a brawler, Kimbo Slice.

Nashville must be comin' up in the world, because we're actually going to host the UFC April 1 at the Sommet Center for its series, "Fight Night Live." I'm willing to bet a month's salary those tickets are going to sell out soon and that the male denizens of Williamson and Rutherford counties will descend out of the hills like biblical swarms. Tickets went on sale last weekend and half of the available seating has already been gobbled up.

The fight will feature WEC champ Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann, a Thai boxer from Denmark.

Very glad this is coming to Nashville. The Nashville market is one of the highest grossing pay per views according to Dana White, president of the UFC. The Sommet Center is the biggest venue the UFC has used for a Fight Night. Here’s hoping to bigger and better events in our fair city.

$200 and up if you want to get splattered with blood... yet, ironically, the "nose bleed" seats are only $20. whadda country!
