Liberal Media Disses 'Magic Negro' Saltsman

Posted by Jeff Woods on Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 6:56 AM

Poor Chip Saltsman. It's been a tough week. First, his home-state Republican National Committee members, including party chair Robin Smith, endorse somebody else for RNC chairman. Then this MSNBC anchor named Contessa Brewer reads him the riot act for sending that "Barack the Magic Negro" CD. On MSNBC, Saltsman tried at first to blame the liberal media, but Brewer was hearing none of it. "This is not going to be an opportunity to shoot the messenger," she scolded Saltsman. "It was an offensive CD to send out, and people I think are right to be offended by it." "Well, I think there are some people who are ... yeah, I understand that," he stammered. Now, to top it all off, the Washington Post, that bastion of media liberalness, is calling Saltsman a dead man walking at the RNC meeting. Says the Post:
Former Tennessee chairman Chip Saltsman, who also ran former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign, has generated almost no support after sending party members a CD in December that included a song called "Barack the Magic Negro."

So is he saying the LA Times coined the phrase "Barack the Magic Negro?" Who wrote this "parody?" Chip is slime and I love seeing him squirm, but I suddenly want to know more about this, or is he just flailing about trying to fling the hot potato somewhere? Erp! Guess I answered my own question.

I found this link through a google search. It will take you only about 2 paragraphs to realize that Chip hadn't read this piece and doesn't know what he's talking about... AND that the phrase "magic negro" in this op-ed column refers to something entirely different than in Chip's little ditty:

Plus, Spike Lee originally coined the term magic negro, not anyone at the LA Times, so it's a faulty defense in that regard, too.
