Somebody finally got around to asking Matt Kisber whether he's thinking about running for governor. Of course he is! Who isn't? But, you know, Kisber's only responding to the groundswell of supporters out there demanding his candidacy.

The state economic and community development commissioner tells Andy Sher that he has "had some people talking to me about it (running for governor)." Naturally, he remains "focused on the job I'm doing and I'll wait to see what happens in the months ahead."

Kisber would be one of the few potential Democratic candidates who could claim to have actually accomplished anything. He played a leading part in landing the VW auto assembly plant for Chattanooga.

No chance. Sadly, his support for an income tax destroyed any chance he had of being elected governor. Frankly it is a shame, because he would make an outstanding governor. I think he could win the primary, but the general election would come down to a referendum on an income tax, and we all know how that would turn out.
