Politics / Woods GOP Already Acting to Officially Disown Williams

Faster than even Kent Williams might have thought, the state GOP is moving to kick him out of the party. Eighteen members of the party's Executive Committee have quickly signed a document challenging the "bona fide" status of Williams as a Republican. That starts a review under party bylaws. GOP flack Bill Hobbs:
"Williams put personal ambition ahead of honor and lied his way into the Speaker's chair. Elected by Republican voters in the historic 2008 elections that saw Republicans win a majority of House seats for the first time since 1868, Rep. Williams chose to betray his party and his constituents. Party bylaws - which Williams was aware of - provide a clear and straightforward process for the challenge to Williams' status as a bona fide Republican as a result of his actions today. We expect the process will move quickly."And party chair Robin Smith:
"This challenge will move swiftly to honor the character and integrity of the 49 members of the Republican House Caucus who stand committed to the Republican principles and the voters who support them. Acting like Ronald Reagan in Carter County but Jimmy Carter in the Capitol has resulted in an official challenge of Mr. Williams's status as a Party member."And here's the really terrible news: If the party kicks out Williams, the media can't call him a Republican ever again (according to Hobbs).

Update: Hell hath no fury like a right-winger scorned. Stacey Campfield says Williams threw a hissy fit and hid out with Naifeh during the speaker pro tem vote. "Kent lost it He was over the top irrational about it to the point people were all trying to calm him down. He started screaming 'Don't you call them liars! They aren't liars!' Well, I guess it takes one to know one."

I love it how Campfield mispells Mumpower's first name, as he refers to him as "Jayson" instead of "Jason." That's sort of pathetic given his allegiance to the man.
I've also never heard of the expression "for all intense and purposes." Someone ought to tell him its "for all intents and purposes."
We must be looking at a really bright individual.
