Pacman, Part II: A Bust as a Human, A Bust as a Player

Every single soul in Titans nation knew this day would come. Few of us, however, would have guessed that Jones would leave Dallas with such poor on-field performance.

This is a guy who just could not follow the league's personal conduct policy. There's no need to go into all the strip club shooting stuff. We all know the story by now. I don't think that the bad-boy stuff really surprises any of us.

What shocks is Jones' ghastly performance on the field. This year, Jones ran for a meager 4.5 yards per punt return and no interceptions(!). What's more, teammates in Dallas never really felt comfortable around him. According to Jean-Jacques Taylor at the Dallas Morning News, it's because the other guys "never knew which Jones was going to show up for work. Sometimes, he was warm and fuzzy. Other times, he was sullen and petulant." Jones' special teams brethren "couldn't stand blocking for him because of his propensity for running backward or sideways instead of upfield."

I always knew Pac wasn't a model citizen. I'm just surprised he turned out to be a galactic bust as a player.
