Maybe we could get one of those kick-ass Fender Stratocasters instead.
One of the best things about minor league baseball is the accessibility. Whether you take that to mean how easy it is to drive to the ballpark, how you don't have to take out a second mortgage to watch a game with your family or how little wrangling it takes to get the team stud to sign your kid's souvenir baseball, it all fits.
Talent-wise the minors can't compete with the Big Leagues. But when it comes to a lack of pretension they're ahead by a mile.
In keeping with that spirit, MFP Baseball, the Sounds soon-to-be new owners, have started a blog. With a new lease in the works and some $1.75 million dedicated to updating Greer Stadium, their much-maligned home of 30 years, now might be a good time for Sounds' fans to head over there and tell MFP exactly where they should put their money.
Our personal suggestion: New bulbs for the Guitar scoreboard. One embarassing eyesore fixed, and all it'll take is a couple bucks and a ladder.
