Campfield: 'I Just Don't See the Racism'

OK, I guess I was wrong. I thought Republicans were appealing to racial prejudice with their "blackbird mailer" against Nathan Vaughn. But now, Stacey Campfield has set me straight. Those are vultures, not blackbirds, on the front side of the mailer, he points out. That makes a big difference. "... I just don't see the racism," he says. What was I thinking? Update: Blackbirds seem to have been a GOP theme in mailouts this year. Wonder why? Of course, the blackbirds in this Texas mailer aren't necessarily blackbirds at all, but merely silhouettes of birds that might be any color.

if youre trying to be snarky, its usually good practice to be able to back up your stance. you have nothing left to argue here. they're vultures. keep looking though, if you focus right, a 3-D picture of a schooner pops out. could it be a reference to the SLAVE TRADE? i say yes. also, republican starts with the same letter as RACIST... coincidence?

These birds are vultures. The previous picture with the heads on the black birds were crows. Either way, a nasty, racist message. Somehow crows could be racist and vultures not? Sorry, the racism here is overt.

Man, is the GOP trying to spin it's way out of this one or what? Today's Knoxville News Sentinel answered what I think is the most important question. Tennessee Republicans didn't put the heads of any white Tennessee Democrats on the bodies of blackbirds - nowhere else in the state. That speaks volumes about their intentions.
