Yet Another Way to Look at Poll Data

University of Wisconsin political scientist Charles Franklin has this clever graphic up at Pollster.com giving an at-a-glance look at Electoral College math (click on it for a version large enough to decipher). States appear in order of Obama-McCain poll margin (McCain-friendliest on the left, Obama-friendliest on the right). Light shaded states are leaners; yellow states are tossups. The width of each bar is proportional to that state's number of electoral votes. The vertical line shows the magic threshold. Our elections may or may not advance the cause of democracy, but they certainly do advance the art and science of graphical representation.
