While I did thoroughly enjoy your recent "
Best of Nashville" issue and agreed with most of the winners, I do have to take issue with a certain person mentioned in the "
Best Art Community Energizer" category.
Andee Rudloff may indeed be "one of the busiest artists in town," but she also happens to be the sort of bully who is not above antagonizing fellow members of the art community. After a recent art showing some friends and I attended, Andee chose to seek out one specific member of our party via her MySpace profile and rather rudely (not to mention unfairly) accuse her of stealing free Frist Center passes that were being given out at the showing. My friend is an artist and longtime member of Nashville's art community as well, so she was pretty hurt by such a ridiculous accusation.
That sort of uncivilized behavior certainly does not deserve to be rewarded---art snobbery like that makes the rest of us not want to seek out the art scene period, so it's disappointing to see someone of that negative vein actually representing the Frist Center and being publicly lauded for an "energizing" attitude. As a new explorer of the local art scene myself, the only thing that Andee energized on my end is the need to no longer attend any art openings that she'll be anywhere near.
