Who says rednecks won't vote for Barack Obama? In this radio ad running in Southwest Virginia, bluegrass great Ralph Stanley, who's about as red as they come, gives his endorsement. “I think I know a little something about the families around here,” Stanley says. “We all need a change.”
Virginia is one of those states that John McCain ought to be winning, but it's a tossup. The candidates are spending $300,000 a day on TV there. Obama is even making gains in rural parts of the state, and that's where Stanley comes in. He's so popular in the sticks that you see pickups with bumper stickers proclaiming "Ralph Stanley for President!"
