Showing 1-3 of 3
I saw this broadcast the other night. Really dumb move on McCain's part. This may be Letterman, but these kinds of shows are where American's really get to see what kind of candidate they are. I mean Bill Clinton got up and played the sax on Arsenio Hall for god's sakes. And look at what that did for him. This is free exposure to a very large audience. And this is yet one more lie to pile on to the mountain of lies that have been coming out of the campaign the last few weeks. And honestly, McCain and Letterman had a pretty good relationship. McCain's been on his show like 12 or so times. If he had just said, "Dave, I've gotta get outta town to go deal with this financial crisis and I was supposed to do an interview with Katie Couric today as well. Sorry, bro, but can we reschedule?", Dave probably would have been cool with it. He may have made a couple of minor jokes about it, but no real harm done. Now, though, he's pissed Letterman off. Not a real smart move considering that Dave has a lot of people who watch his show. And Dave's been known to hold a grudge.
The brother of Chicago's Mayor Daley may have said it best a few days ago:
"It looks as though John McCain at this stage in his life just wants to win. He's always prided himself as being an honorable person. But it looks like he may have left his honor in his uniform," said Bill Daley.
