We learned today that Barack Obama has taken our advice
and decided against picking Phil Bredesen as his running mate. Actually, the idea apparently never even entered Obama's mind.
Earlier, the Bredesen administration wouldn't say whether the governor has been contacted by the committee vetting vice presidential candidates for Obama. But in Washington yesterday for a National Governors Association conference on health care, Bredesen finally acknowledged
he's not--and apparently never has been--under consideration.
We never really thought Bredesen was in the running, for all the reasons given in our article this week. A source close to the Obama campaign, in fact, told us that Obama's people were annoyed at the governor for bad-mouthing Obama to reporters on a couple of occasions. Essentially, we were told, Obama's people think Bredesen is weird.
