In one of the least surprising stories of the year, Metro Police are set to charge Kelley Cannon with the murder of her husband.
This week in an exclusive interview with the Scene
, Cannon offered her account of what happened on the last night of her husband's life. She says he called her, told her that he loved her and insisted she come over.
"He said, 'I'm just telling you, things have spun out of control...[things] that I can't even talk about. I feel threatened and I'm afraid.' "
Canon "paced and paced and paced" and sometime after midnight, she drove by their home. She pulled into the driveway and saw the back door was ajar. When she walked inside, all the lights were on and the furniture was turned over. Towels were thrown about the floor. She called for Jim and when he didn't answer, she took their kids and left. Although she was scared, Cannon was apparently composed enough to pack a bag for her youngest daughter, gathering up the girl's diaper, bottles and such.
Cannon admits she never called the police. That's the one thing she said that we don't doubt.
