Mayor Karl Dean's Weakly Schedule

Outside of our own newsroom, which may or may not be in a state of shock due to recent events, there's not a whole lot to blog about. No swims across the Cumberland, no mishaps from our friends at Waller, no self-aggrandizing statements from Bredesen, no additional setbacks for Gus Puryear and CCA. And honestly, I can't possibly pretend to be interested in the Tuke-Padgett race, which is about as interesting—and consequential—as an beauty contest in Hendersonville. So when times are desperate at Pith and we are mired in a serious case of bloggers' block, we turn to that old familiar standby: poking fun at Mayor Karl Dean's schedule. It's the one thing that never lets us down. We don't get it: What exactly does the mayor do again? The Metro Council passed his anemic budget and the state runs the school system, which leaves the mayor showing up at a picnic in Berry Hill. Seriously. MAYOR DEAN – PUBLIC SCHEDULE – WEEK OF JUNE 23 – 29 Monday, June 23 Tuesday, June 24 7 p.m. – Nashville Sounds vs. Memphis Redbirds – Greer Stadium Wednesday, June 25 10 a.m. – Project for Student Success Report – Belmont University, Frist Lecture Hall in the Gordon E. Inman Center Thursday, June 26 11:30 a.m. – Goodlettsville Chamber of Commerce luncheon – Goodlettsville Church of the Nazarene, 400 Loretta Drive Friday, June 27 Saturday, June 28 10 a.m. – Sudekum Planetarium Opening – Adventure Science Center, 800 Fort Negley Blvd. 6 p.m. – City of Berry Hill Summer Picnic – Azalea Park, 404 E. Iris Drive Sunday, June 29 3 p.m. – Una Historical Marker Dedication – Historic Ellis Garage, Corner of Smith Springs and Old Murfreesboro roads

Dean is on the right track; the less any politician does the better off we all are.
You Pithters just don't get it.
BTW, was not the SCENE once for "people who get it."
