So Harold Ford Jr. was on
Meet the Press yesterday and managed to float Gov. Phil Bredesen as a veep candidate, an unoriginal notion that would be a great idea for Barack Obama if the Democratic nominee wanted a running mate best known for kicking thousands and thousands of people off the health care rolls. From the program:
Harold Ford Jr: "I have a wild card for VP. My governor, Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen has shown how you win the South, has been able to do some of the things we've talked about with conservative, moderate Democrats...."
Russert, interrupts: "He's from upstate New York."
Ford Jr., motioning downward with hands.: "Can we keep that quiet?"
On the bright side, he told a funny. The whole panel erupted in laughter.
