Isn't democracy great? First, the GOP righteously demands closing the names of Tennessee’s 190,000 handgun permit holders. Then after a few shenanigans on both sides, House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh succeeds in killing the bill, and the state Republican Party immediately asks for a copy of the still-public list to raise campaign cash. Read the City Paper
and the AP's here.
Once the list is received, fund-raising letters will follow. The GOP is already trying to raise money from others on the issue. After the jump, read the email that went out yesterday.
Here’s yesterday’s email from the state GOP, complete with the party's address in case you're moved to donate:
It matters who governs.
Yesterday in Nashville, Democrat House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh launched yet another assault on the Second Amendment rights and security of gun owners and handgun carry permit holders in Tennessee.
The time is now! Make your voice heard loud and clear by supporting pro-second amendment Republicans. Donate today and add 2 cents to your donation to signify the importance of your Second Amendment rights.
Running roughshod over commonly-accepted parliamentary tactics, Naifeh and his gang engineered the defeat of legislation that would make carry permit holders more secure by protecting their personal identity information, and also killed legislation that would have allowed carry permit holders to carry their gun into restaurants and bars for their personal defense.
Naifeh and his anti-gun Democrat allies are content to leave carry permit holders' identities exposed and leave gun owners and the public defenseless when they go out to eat.
The Tennessee Republican Party is committed to protecting your Second Amendment rights and passing legislation that enhances your safety and security; Speaker Naifeh and his gang have demonstrated that they are not.
The good news is that you can fight back against the Naifeh gang's assault on your Second Amendment rights in two ways:
