What's Al Gore's Game?

Posted by Jeff Woods on Wed, Apr 2, 2008 at 9:35 AM

Dick Morris predicts that Al Gore, who's staying quiet for now on the presidential race, could lead a squad of Democratic Party big shots to persuade Hillary Clinton to quit after the primaries are finished on June 3.
The guess here is that Al is keeping his powder dry to lead the superdelegates in accepting the will of the voters. Perhaps in concert with a Gang of Five that might include former president Jimmy Carter, Pelosi, party Chairman Howard Dean and former candidate John Edwards, Gore may act as the elder statesman in the party, stepping in after all the voters have spoken, asking the Clintons to accept the will of the people and give way. He might quell the credentials battles, giving Florida and Michigan some representation in return for a recognition that Obama should be the nominee.
No mention of Phil Bredesen there or his fabulous idea for a superdelegate convention. Must be an oversight on Dick's part. Update: Obama: 'I'd hire Gore.'

Dick Morris - what a noble and trustworthy source for any prediction.
