Al and Barack

Posted by Liz Garrigan on Wed, Apr 2, 2008 at 4:53 PM

From CNN's Political Ticker comes news that Barack Obama wants Al Gore to help him save the icebergs and azaleas:
Asked at a campaign event if he'd consider Gore for his cabinet, Obama immediately said he would. "I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part in us figuring out how we solve this [climate change] problem," Obama said.

Liz, with your "save the icebergs and azaleas" phrasing, you appear to be trivializing the issue of climate change. Hopefully, that wasn't actually your intent. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

There's nothing trivial about azaleas. No, I just find that it's easier to cope with the idea of a withering planet when I'm a smart ass.

Like in today's City Paper column, I put "global warming" in quotes because I know it's all a bunch of crap, something Gore dreamed up in order to run his money-making scam.

My goal in life is to have a carbon footprint as large as Al Gore's. It'll take some doing cause I only fly once every couple of years and my one single home is just shy of 1,700 square feet. One can hope, though, can't one!
