OK, so I just have to say this: I was dead wrong. Even though Bill Clinton took Tennessee way back when, I didn't think that would translate for Hillary. Because it's in my DNA, I want to understand
this result, pick it apart, over-analyze, which, it turns out, doesn’t take much. While it’s heartening to see Tennesseans reject misogyny, it’s disappointing that they embraced identity politics in such a big way that Obama lost the state. (Sorry, but it’s difficult for someone in the business of delivering bad news to see the glass half full.)
Based on exit polls for Tennessee
, it looks like whites and women voted overwhelmingly for Clinton and blacks for Obama.
Anyone care to offer nuances?
