Wintry Mix, Day 2: Lowering the Bar

Posted by PJ Tobia on Wed, Dec 5, 2007 at 12:22 PM

It’s not exactly breaking news to Nashvillians that the Opryland Resort Hotel is a giant pain in the ass. It’s enormous, easy to get lost in, and the food is expensive—and often terrible. Now, because the Major League Baseball winter meetings are being held there, half the sports writers in the universe are learning just how awful this country fried biodome fabulous resort really is. “This place is a nightmare,” said a writer for a daily newspaper out of New York City. “There are hour-and-a-half waits for every restaurant here. Even that buffet.” But the complaint heard most often last night was that getting a drink is next to impossible. “We were at the Jack Daniel's place and the bar was five people deep with only one bartender,” said a writer for a major national sports outlet. “It keeps happening at these places…. Don’t these people realize that baseball runs on alcohol?”

Baseball runs on cash - the same as every other sport.

I think the reporter misspoke. He probably meant “baseball reporters run on alcohol."

Excellent, PJ.
A couple more notable comments about the place, by people from the 'Big Apple': "A goddamn geriatric Disney World;" and, "This quasi-f-----g Tara."
Okay. And that's probly all that needs to be said about that.
