The Truth, 24 Frames Per Second

Posted by Jim Ridley on Fri, Oct 19, 2007 at 10:22 AM

A.C. Kleinheider at Volunteer Voters sent over these links to coverage of the Nothing But the Truth shoot underway in Memphis. This is director Rod Lurie's take on the Valerie Plame debacle, with Kate Beckinsale, Vera Farmiga, Angela Bassett and Matt Dillon; it's the first major film to get reeled in (heh) by the state's new film incentives package.

Mediaverse remarks upon the transformation of the Commercial Appeal's "dark den of gloom" newsroom into a sunny, open academy of passionate reporting—be sure to click the link to John Beifuss' on-the-spot coverage—while Theology & Geometry already questions the movie's verisimilitude (starting with the paper itself, which blogger Lindsey says looks like "roasted ass on a stick"). Watch also for "hair updates."

Back in March I read what I consider to be the best column on this subject. The author is a conservative who understands what national security is all about. I highly suggest that you read it. Here is the link:

Thanks for the tip. You're right: the author absolutely nails the crux of the matter—government officials blowing the cover of an intelligence agent, covert or not, is mighty close to (and may be outright) treason.
