State Rep. Rob Briley, upset about an article
in this week's Scene
, checked out of rehab yesterday, rented a red Ford Mustang and left Nashville, police say. His brother David filed a missing-person report with police last night. He told officers he thought his brother might be suicidal.
A cell phone call from Rob Briley to his brother was tracked to Memphis near that city's airport. Police in Memphis have been notified and are looking for Briley, Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron says. They have been asked to take Briley into custody for a mental evaluation, Aaron says. In his phone talk with his brother, Briley was "very upset" about the Scene
article, among other matters, and said he wanted to go to Key West, Fla., Aaron says.
Briley has been undergoing treatment at Cumberland Heights since his Sept. 8 arrest on drunken-driving and other charges in Wilson County.Update: Briley turns up at Tunica casino.
