The City Paper's Clint Brewer hopes Howard Gentry's political career isn't over. Why? He's a shill for bizpigs who masquerades as a civil rights leader. His campaign was vapid. His most substantive proposal was to hold some kind of "summit" to figure out how to address city problems. To any criticism, his response was to play the race victim.
But Gentry can still have some say about the outcome of the mayor's race. His endorsement will carry some weight with blacks, whose votes may be decisive on Sept. 11. Clement has always thought he'd have the black vote sewn up once Gentry was out of the contest. But
an influential black preacher cast doubt on that this week.
