In a radio ad, Tim Garrett is taking a backhanded swipe at Ronnie Steine, one of his many rivals in the at-large council race. The ad doesn't name Steine or mention his two arrests for shoplifting. But it does say, "In an age where the disgrace and sometimes redemption of public officials has become the norm, Tim Garrett brings a spotless record to the race for at-large representative—no arrests, no indictments, no investigations, no convictions."
Asked about the ad, Garrett joked, "I didn't write this. A scriptwriter wrote it. I'm not that good a writer." He then insisted the ad's got nothing to do with Steine. "I'm not referring to anybody," he said. "I'm referring to myself."
Here's a look at the at-large council contest from this week's
Scene. Steine is still so pissed about
this article that he wouldn't talk to us for this week's story.
