Romenesko has linked to a
Louisville Courier-Journal story about one of its reporters being thrown out of the press box Sunday for blogging during the U of L/Oklahoma State playoff series. The reporter had been blogging other games in U of L's championship run and was told by the NCAA before Sunday's game to cease and desist.
An NCAA memo circulated to reporters before the game that said "in essence no blog entries are permitted between the first pitch and the final out of each game." According to the
Courier-Journal story, the reporter—one Brian Bennett—filed a blog report anyway in the top of the first inning, "after consulting with his editors."
The paper, which has already lawyered up, says that it's a First Amendment issue, while NCAA officials have declined to comment.
By the way, U of L won the game 20-2 and advances to the College World Series.
