Spun Out

Sad to say, Spun Music and Movies is calling it a day. The cool indie used-record/vid-rental store upstairs around the corner from Bongo Java on Belmont (right next to the Circle K) had become a nexus for fans of local dance music and Asian DVDs, especially after the closing of Tower. It was the only place in town I knew about where you could rent Battle Royale I and II.
But a couple of weeks ago, owner Tim Buchanan, a.k.a. "the Spun Counter Guy," sent an email that he was just exhausted trying to keep the place going. Buchanan says he is still entertaining a few offers from patrons who might want to take over, but for now, the tentative closing date is March 15.
In the meantime, he's having a huge sale: 30 percent off everything that was already for sale, and $10 for rental films. Drop by, especially if you need any of the following items:
