The Nashville-shot comedy-drama Two Weeks
, starring Sally Field and Ben Chaplin (pictured above), opens in Nashville next Friday. The story concerns a dying woman (Field) whose adult children converge on her home expecting her imminent death, only to find her health a bit better than expected. Longtime local filmmaker and Film House CEO Curt Hahn produced the film for his Transcendent production company, devoted to boosting the local film industry while making "the kind of inspiring, uplifting films that are often seen as too small for Hollywood."
The move apparently paid off. MGM picked up the film for national release, and it opens in New York and Los Angeles the same day. Hahn will discuss the film next week at a Tuesday-night preview with writer-director Steve Stockman, and he'll also appear at meetings of the Downtown Nashville Rotary Club and the Exchange Club to talk about making movies in Middle Tennessee. There'd certainly be a lot less going on without him.
