Nashville Vague

Posted by on Fri, Feb 23, 2007 at 11:26 AM

One of my favorite movies, Fran谩s Truffaut's Jules and Jim, is getting a short run next week at the Belcourt, and Nashville musician/filmmaker/producer Steve Taylor will introduce the first showing 7:30 p.m. Monday. Why Taylor? The answer's in his 1998 video for Sixpence None the Richer's chart-topping "Kiss Me," which Taylor and the group made in Paris recreating shots and scenes from Truffaut's film. It was a big hit on VH1, but it was eventually replaced by a movie tie-in version featuring clips from Can't Hardly Wait.

Taylor will show the video after the Monday night screening, but we found this (not great) copy on the Web. I've seen it probably two dozen times, and the ending never fails to choke me up. It's a really nice piece.
