Would He Even Win Tennessee?

Posted by on Mon, Aug 21, 2006 at 6:48 PM

New numbers from SurveyUSA giving approval-disapproval ratings for all 100 U.S. Senators reveal that Bill Frist continues to be not especially popular—in Tennessee! Sorting and ranking by "net approval" (approval minus disapproval), Frist finds himself in 86th place among senators, with a net number of just +5%—tied with his good buddy John Kerry. Only eight ten Republicans have a lower net approval number than Frist, whose approval number by itself is an underwhelming 49%. (Trend here.) One struggles to imagine how a Republican senator who cannot garner majority approval in his own red home state can hope to scale nationally in a presidential race.
