Yep, I know the PITW readership comes here to find out about the latest fashion trends, and I want to be the first to report that this fall, black is the new black. It's all over the runway. Yes, you could just say "The new fall color is black." But that wouldn't sound anywhere near as cool as saying black is the new black. Try it: Black is the new black. Say it sort of matter-of-fact, like everyone has known for ages that it would come back eventually, and here it is, no more shocking than when it was in vogue the first time around. Reason being, last season, I think gray was the new black, and before that, I wanna say it was purple or something. Anyway, my point is this: Black has been on sabbatical, and now it's back, and it needs more than just a perfunctory introduction. It needs to reclaim its old title with gusto and verve! Thus, black is the new black. Yes, I said it again. And I couldn't be happier about this. And now goth-lite chicks and the otherwise risk-averse earth toners can all breathe a moody, collective sigh of relief.
Need I quote Morrissey, who sang "I wear black on the outside, cause black is how I feel on the inside?" Probably not. The dress, of course, is by Cavalli.
