Enough Already

Posted by on Thu, May 12, 2005 at 11:27 AM

As an American who happens to be gay, I’m appalled at the backwards direction we’re taking as a nation. It seems that since our inception, this country has attempted to constantly and vigilantly work towards expanding the "We" of "We the People." In the post 9/11 world, it seems that fear is causing people to crawl back into their old prejudices, and this fear is insidiously being exploited by religious zealots who corrupt the divine by propagandizing their own discriminating scriptural interpretations as the will of an anthropomorphic over-spirit. Even worse, they’re attempting to legislate it.

I’ve been reluctant to post anything because it’s hard to articulate a rational point when you’re frustrated, but I read a commentary by Matt Foreman on advocate.com today that helped put my thoughts into words.
