Profiles in Courage

According to a story in Monday's Tennessean, House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh sees the legislature's eagerness to sully the state constitution with a ban on same sex marriage as bad public policy: "Cluttering up the constitution with all these social issues and the income tax thing, we shouldn't be doing it." Naifeh plans to vote for it anyway. And to think I used to wonder why most Americans don't bother to vote.
