Antoinette Lee will represent southeast Nashville's District 33 on the Metro Council after defeating Tim Herndon in Tuesday night's runoff election. Lee won by 115 votes in a race that drew just 1,195 votes.Â
Lee writes in a Facebook post:
Thank you District 33!!!! I'm grateful for this opportunity and the faith my neighbors have in me to lead our District. I want to thank all — Jack Byrd, Tim Herndon, Michael Mathew and Martez Coleman for a great campaign. I would like for us to work together. I plan to work hard. I plan to unite our district over the upcoming weeks and get to work on the issues at hand. My focus will be on the issues I outlined in my campaign and more than anything engaging District 33 neighbors. I represent you!
Lee, who works as a field organizer for the Tennessee Education Association,
told the Scene last monththat education and infrastructure were her priorities, along with changing the perception of the Antioch area in general.Â
