Metro School Board Winners Raised Less Per Vote Than Losing Opponents

In a preliminary look at how much each campaign received per vote, all races but District 7 showed that the winners in the Metro school board races raised less in contributions per vote than their losing opponents.

Most notably: Amy Frogge in District 9 raised only $6.44 per vote while her opponent Thom Druffel raised upwards of $20 per vote. The gap between Jill Speering ($13.66 raised per vote) and Jane Grimes Meneely ($29.14) was similar.

And Christiane Buggs in District 5 raised $12.92 per vote while Miranda Christy more than tripled that at $40 in contributions per vote.

Sharon Gentry and Janette Carter had not yet turned in their pre-general disclosures, so their totals are lacking any contributions given after June 30. These numbers, of course, don't include the money spent by independent expenditure committeess in the races, like Stand for Children Tennessee, which dumped more than $230,000 into races in July alone.

(NOTE: These numbers will likely change when the last round of disclosures are due in October. We will revisit then.)
