The Avett Brothers, Marty Stuart, Sarah Jarosz and More to Play the Americana Music Fest Sept. 17-21

Last month we shared with you the nominees for this year's Americana Honors and Awards — from Jason Isbell and Rosanne Cash to Sturgill Simpson and Robert Ellis, the field of nominees unsurprisingly features a slew of current and former Nashvillians. The award ceremony, which is slated to take place Sept. 17 at the Ryman, will kick off the week's Americana Music Festival and Conference (Sept. 17-21, 160 artists, 11 venues).

Well, the folks behind the Americana Fest (Americanos? Americanists? Americanartists?) recently unveiled a big old chunk of this year's lineup. As you might expect, many of the artists playing truly helped shape what we all know now as the clearly defined and widely agreed-upon "Americana Sound": Damon Albarn; Tito Puente; Bombino; Celine Dion; Die Antwoord; Os Mutantes; Psy.

All right, unruffle your feathers and unbunch your pantaloons. I'm obviously just yankin' your chain. The roster of this year's Americana Fest isn't quite so international as the phony one I just listed, but there are definitely some impressive names in the bunch, from folksy newcomers to well-worn, established songsters: The Avett Brothers, Marty Suart, Sarah Jarosz, Angaleena Presley, Billy Joe Shaver, Buddy Miller, Chuck Mead, Grant-Lee Phillips, Lake Street Dive, the McCrary Sisters, Willie Watson, Rodney Crowell, Robyn Hitchcock (hey, a Brit!), Parker Millsap, Shakey Graves, Suzy Bogguss, Todd Snider and Friends and more will play venues including 3rd & Lindsley, The Basement, The High Watt, Mercy Lounge, The Station Inn and beyond.

Tickets to the fest and conference are available here, with more info available at the official Americana Fest site. Follow me after the jump to see all the acts that have been announced thus far, along with a Spotify playlist that the AMA folks put together in celebration of the announcement.
