Every time I think I’m ahead of the curve and totally into a band before anybody else, I get word that they’re doing a cassette with Infinity Cat. How do those I. Cats stay so far ahead of the curve? I’m gonna guess that Bob Orrall & Co. have a space-time wormhole in the basement of their Wedgewood-Houston headquarters. They’ve got to, right? How else can you explain “367 Equalizer,” the new single from Boston art-punks Guerilla Toss? This shit sounds like it was stolen from the future and is being held for ransom until the alien overlords fork over some dough. If “367 Equalizer” were a summer blockbuster it would feature Guerilla Toss saving the world from imminent suck-dom with Pere Ubu vibes and a metric shit-ton of percussion. “367 Equalizer” is the Tom Cruise of cacophony, and I’m keeping it on repeat until the full tape drops on July 15.
Tonight's show at The Stone Fox costs $7 and starts at 9 p.m. Local rock 'n' rollers D. Watusi and Gnarwhal will open. Hear "367 Equalizer" below, and subscribe to Infinity Cat's Casey Weissbuch-curated cassette series right here.
