The Ghost Wolves w/All Them Witches and The Blackfoot Gypsies Tonight at The Basement

Austin duo The Ghost Wolves — composed of husband and wife Jonathan and Carley Wolf — is what happens when you add up a few of my favorite things: heavy, fuzzy distortion; thick, driving riffs; an undeniable (but not overwhelming) psychedelic vibe; and shouty vocals from a woman who’s not afraid to make a mess. The only way I could like them more is if they threw out candy while they played. (Maybe they do! I haven’t seen them live yet.) Sometimes Carley plays a one-string guitar, and sometimes she slays you with all six strings — so don’t expect sonic perfection, but do expect to shake your hips. Weird bonus: When you order a copy of their new record Man, Woman, Beast from local label Plowboy Records, you get ... a bag of fur. Yeah, dudes. A real-life bag of actual wolf fur. You can use it to line the hood of your coat and pretend you’re Jon Snow or something.

Tonight's show at The Basement starts at 9 p.m. and costs $5. Locals All Them Witches and The Blackfoot Gypsies will open.
