Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Play Bridgestone Arena Sept. 23

Posted By on Tue, May 20, 2014 at 10:04 AM

Last year, Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers shut down Bonnaroo with a fest-ending headline set that, riddled with hits as it may have been, was dampened by rainfall and a high bar set by Paul McCartney two nights prior.

Well, good news for fans of the iconic Floridian heartland rocker who either missed the Bonnaroo set or just want to see a performance of "Louisiana Rain" without getting rained on. (All right all right, TP and the HBs don't really play "Louisiana Rain" live all that often anymore, but you get my point.) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have just announced a North American tour in support of their forthcoming Hypnotic Eye (out July 29 via Reprise Records), and that will bring them to Nashville's own Bridgestone Arena on Sept. 23. Also, according to a release, every ticket bought on this tour will come with a copy of the album. That's one way to sell a lot of records! Watch a Hypnotic Eye teaser video after the jump, and see more details on the record via Rolling Stone.

Tickets for the Bridgestone show go on sale Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m. via this link. Blue-eyed soulster Steve Winwood will provide support. Remind me to tell you my Steve Winwood joke sometime under more appropriate circumstances. Spoiler: The punch line is "He was playing in Traffic."
