Since first releasing their debut LP Youth — a record that I called "sparkling and tuneful" — way back in August of 2012, local electro-pop outfit Wild Cub has done it all. They've played Fallon, been interviewed by a kid, been robbed, released multiple videos and now been signed by Virgin/EMI. Wild Cub's first video since joining up with the UK label is "Colour," another cut from Youth.
Like the "Thunder Clatter" video and, well, Youth itself, "Colour" is very youth-centric. The Drew Bourdet-directed clip (which you can watch above) was shot in Nashville and features shots of the band performing, interspersed with a bunch of footage of Nashville youngsters kissing, smoking, hanging, driving and skating. You know, teenage ennui stuff. Keep your eyes peeled at the 3:00 mark, where Cream contributor Itoro Udoko makes a cameo.
Congrats on the Virgin/EMI signing, Wild Cub. And everyone else, if you dig it, purchase the "Colour" single b/w "Blacktide" via iTunes.
