Wednesday Night Round-up: Da Mafia 6ix, Clear Plastic Masks, Peelander-Z and More

Wowsers! With SXSW in the rear-view mirror, we thought we were done with Wednesday night round-ups for a minute. "Gee, Wednesday sure is a good night to take it easy. Maybe make a nice salad, do some hot yoga. Nothing to see here, except for maybe a little Nashville," we mused. One look at the calendar told us we were wrong. First and foremost, brave soul and Scene contributor Ashley Spurgeon has ABC's Nashville taken care of — we'll just catch the recap tomorrow. Secondly, there's a metric ton of live happenings tonight, which we've rounded up for your convenience below.

First up: a visit by Oscar winners Three Six Mafia! Without Juicy J, DJ Paul & Co. roll as Da Mafia 6ix. They'll be throwing down at Club X in Antioch; according to the map, that's at the corner of Bell Road and Murfreesboro Road. If you missed out on Juicy J this past Sunday, or if you were one of those who got amped when the MC shouted out to his Three 6 roots, here's your shot to catch all of the seminal Memphis crew's hits in person. Doors for the 18+ show open at 7:30, and the show starts at 8. Hosted by comedian Marcus "Quit Playin'" Jones, it's a lengthy bill, including TWISTED INSANE, Whitney Peyton, Hoopty Muzic, and more, so be prepared for a long night. We heard presale tix are $20, with at-the-door prices on a sliding scale starting at $30. There's also a meet-and-greet from 5:30-6:30; for up-to-date details on that, ticket pricing, and VIP, the number to call is 615-788-9050.

And if that doesn't sound like your thing, there are choices a-plenty:

* Gritty rockers Clear Plastic Masks are playing "an intimate party and performance" at No. 308 tonight. The free, strictly 21+ show runs from 7-9 p.m. Not unlike the recent Bad Cop/Converse shoot on Monday, the event is a co-sponsored deal put on by Filter Magazine and a vape-pen company called Ploom, so an RSVP is required. Let the corporate sponsorship debate/kerfuffle continue! Whatever side you take, it's good to talk about it.

* Quichenight is playing The East Room with Lylas and Sun Seeker. Cover for the 18+ show is five of your American dollars, and it kicks off at 9 p.m. It's an interesting conglomeration of pop sounds sure to soothe even the savage beast.

* The pride of St. Louis, dance-conscious rockers So Many Dynamos are playing The End with local grunge revivalists Rales and stoned-out indie shufflers Sudonistas. Doors are at 9, and the cover is only $5.

* In perhaps the most spectacularly incongruous bill of the night, Power Ranger party punks Peelander-Z are playing The High Watt with be-sequined posi-dance maestro Meth Dad and Everley-brother-and-sister rockin' duo Mystery Twins. Brandon Jazz is slated to be your Hump Day DJ, which is a thing I just made up. The 18+ show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $10.

*If you want to keep it on the East Side and keep the coins in your pocket, Los Colognes are doing a special early set preceding Tom Pappas Presents at The 5 Spot. Cameras will be rolling, so you may see yourself in a future video, like this one.

As always, let us know what we missed.
