Promised Land Sound's 'Empty Vase' and Upcoming Tour Dates [Fresh Vid]

"What's most interesting about the Nashville-recorded country rock of Promised Land Sound is how artfully the early 1970s sonic reference points have been modified with doses of garage rock," said contributor Edd Hurt in regard to the debut LP from locals Promised Land Sound back in September. "Promised Land Sound harks back to an era that was influenced by The Band's Music From Big Pink and Gram Parsons' GP, and the group plays with post-punk panache. Promised Land Sound is rock 'n' roll, which means the music is cheerfully snide even when it borders on pastiche."

Well said, Edd. As a matter of fact, perhaps no song on PLS captures the band's knack for garage-modding their '70s influences than "Empty Vase," a tune that rolls the Burritos' and The Byrds' loose, dusty swagger into Faces' effortless cool. Promised Land Sound has a brand-new video for "Empty Vase," and you can watch that above. The clip is simple enough: Tourist-y shots from around New York City (which appear to have been recorded on VHS) are paired with footage of the band kickin' around in the woods. Concrete jungle meets Southern woods. I feel you, Promised Land — I've thrown an ol' stick in a river on more than one occasion. Promised Land Sound is available for purchase in a variety of formats via the band's label, Paradise of Bachelors, and on Bandcamp.

Promised Land Sound will play a handful of dates this week at SXSW, and after that they'll head out on tour supporting the excellent Angel Olsen. Hop on after the jump to see those dates.
