Earlier this week, word came along that flagship Dungeon Family duo and bona fide rock stars of the hip-hop world Outkast "will be playing over 40 festivals worldwide this year, beginning with their headlining appearance at Coachella in April." "I'm looking forward to rocking the stage with my Bro Ski," tweeted Big Boi from Outkast's official account, "and to all the fans — stank you smelly much, this is for y'all!" Well, saying "40 festivals" is basically like saying "all of the festivals, or at least all of the ones you've heard of and some other good ones as well." But while we all wait with bated breath to see if a Bonnaroo set is among Outkast's 40 festival appearances, in comes word that the duo will indeed be co-headlining this year's Hangout Music Fest, which goes down May 16-18 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Other big names on this year's dude-heavy, 75-band, six-stage Hangout lineup include Nashville's own Black Keys, not to mention The Killers, Jack Johnson, Queens of the Stone Age, Pretty Lights, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips and The Avett Brothers. But Nashville is very well represented beyond just the Keys; other locals playing Hangout include Diarrhea Planet, Wild Cub, Los Colognes, Moon Taxi, The Lonely Biscuits and The Wans. Anyway, there's a little something for everyone on the undercard, from hip-hop (Wiz Khalifa, Donald Glover's Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper) to party-time rock 'n' roll (Black Lips, Andrew W.K.) to EDM (Daedelus, Zedd) and beyond. Tickets for Hangout 2014 go on sale tomorrow, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. Eastern (9 a.m. Central) via this link. Those'll run you $229, unless you feel like lounging in a goddamn stage-side pool or hot tub (photo via Spin), in which case you can purchase the VIP tickets for a grand or the "Super VIP" package for $1,599. Click after the jump to see more info sent our way by the Hangout folks, not to mention the entire lineup.
* Full disclosure: Hangout Fest send me a hat yesterday, and while I appreciate the gesture, pink really isn't my color. I'm more of an autumn.
The setting of the Hangout Music Fest is unlike any other. Fans watch performances just steps from the Gulf of Mexico and sample seafood prepared by renowned regional chefs from the newly redesigned Alabama Gulf Seafood Outdoor Courtyard. Fashion will also be in the spotlight with a village of pop up boutiques where fans can shop for dresses, bathing suits, sunglasses and more. Even romance gets a boost with the Hangout Music Fest's new beach-side wedding chapel.
Fans will also enjoy access to extraordinary amenities including more shaded areas under palm trees, the Sky Bar tower, which offers 360-degree views of the festival, and a plethora of amusement rides and games, free refill water stations and a variety of dining options.
VIP ticket-holders receive even more perks including easy access to the festival through special entrances; prime viewing areas, including swimming pools with views of the main stage; a shaded VIP Grove with complimentary beverages as well as private, air-conditioned restrooms; and more. Super VIPs will also receive 24/7 concierge services; access to a private, air-conditioned dining room and lounge featuring exclusive meals prepared by renowned chefs; admittance to the pre-fest party; golf cart chauffeur service; priority on-site lodging reservation privileges; and more.
