Foxing’s debut LP The Albatross
or below) has gained the St. Louis band a lot of attention in the past couple of months. Their breakout single, “Rory,” which has garnered praise from Pitchfork and BBC Radio, is a delightful example of why. Lead singer and trumpeter Conor Murphy’s vocals are on full display, as is the band’s orchestral flourishes. The five-piece will be in town tonight, courtesy of r∆chel/Neuhau5, the band-slash-DIY venue that’s strung together an impressive array of shows over the past year — EX-CULT, Cheap Time, Designer, Tiny Moving Parts and Priests are just some of the bands to have graced Neuhau5 over the past eight months.
Tonight Foxing and hosts r∆chel will play Neuhau5’s first show of the year. Those are the only names on the bill, although a stand-up comedy set is scheduled to occur between the bands. Tonight’s Neuhau5 bill also happens to be the release show for the newest release by Paco Tapes, a local cassette label run by Cody Stanaszek, one-half of rachel. The release is What You Want by a Chicago band named Options. Stream or purchase that here; the cassette will also be available for purchase at Neuhau5 tonight.
Neuhau5 is a private residence located on Stewart Place. Show starts at 8:30, and cover is $5. Here's the Facebook event page.
